ANOTHER COUNTRY THROUGH MY EYES – ON LOCATION – DEPARTURE FROM THE UNITED STATES

FRIDAY APRIL 02, 2010
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dawn breaks over Manhattan and at 6:00AM, the transfer service pulls up outside my residence. We head to Hoboken to collect my film crew, Christopher Dignam and Eric Langlay and all of the equipment that they will be taking along to South Africa.

Being Good Friday, the traffic is slow and the transfer to New York City’s John F. Kennedy International seems to be exceptionally short. More than 70 airlines operate out of JFK but we’re traveling with the superior services of South African Airways, one of the 26 Star Alliance members, which operates from Terminal 4.

South African Airways operates a daily service from New York City’s John F. Kennedy International to Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International using the Airbus340-300 jet aircraft series. Departure time is set for 11:15AM local time, which I think, is a very smart 'move' on behalf of the airline. Firstly, at that time of the morning the airport concourse is quite and I find nothing less comforting than the hustle and bustle of an extremely busy airport. Additionally, the flight is scheduled to arrive into Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International tomorrow at 8:15AM local time, permitting sufficient time to connect to all of South Africa’s major domestic cities, regional cities and pretty much all of the African cities they serve.

I have this 'thing' for airlines in-flight magazines and once on board and comfortably settled in, I reach for SAWUBONA in the seat-pocket in front of me, and in an instant, I feel at home. Flipping through the pages of EXTRAORDINair, the duty free in-flight shopping catalogue is always a delight for after all, what is the worth of a 15-hour non-stop flight without a little shopping?

The moment you step on board South African Airways, you 'feel' the difference . . . different faces, accents, smells; it feels almost as if you are already in Africa. It’s a feeling that always thrills me!

Soon we become airborne – the journey has begun – ANOTHER COUNTRY THROUGH MY EYES – ON LOCATION has commenced and we’re heading south to Johannesburg, the international gateway to the Republic of South Africa. This is going to be a non-stop flight and a long but very comfortable night ahead.

Our plan is to transfer through Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International Airport tomorrow morning and board another South African Airways flight to South Africa’s 'Mother City' – Cape Town – and in particular, 15 ON ORANGE, our 5-star brand new African Pride hotel located in Gardens in the city.

I am really looking forward to seeing Johannesburg’s O.R. Tambo International tomorrow for it is nearing completion now in anticipation for the masses that will soon descend upon South Africa for the eagerly awaited 2010 FIFA World Cup Soccer event!

But for the moment, it is in-flight comfort, SAWUBONA, EXTRAORDINair, exceptional cuisine and a great nights rest!

INTRODUCING THE ZAMBEZI QUEEN

TUESDAY FEBRUARY 16, 2010
NEW YORK, NY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

There can be few natural wonders as synonymous with Africa’s raw wilderness as the great Chobe River. These waters divide Namibia’s Caprivi Strip from Botswana’s Chobe National Park, and its exotic banks boast one of the densest populations of wildlife on the African continent.

Teeming with life, this National Park sprawls across lush African bush, and is home to the largest populace of elephants in the world – currently estimated at roughly 120,000. Along with the elephants, prides of leopard and lion, huge groups of buffalo, waterbuck, roan, eland, sable, giraffe, and, if you are lucky, one of the rare puku, can also be seen. In the river itself watch out for hippo and crocodile, and keep your binoculars at the ready for spotting a rich selection of bird life.

It is on this great expanse of untamed water an adventure unlike any other awaits. Why join he crowds on land-based game drives when you can experience the thrill of it all from your own private suite aboard a luxury boat? The Zambezi Queen operates in 5-star opulence, and is all about pampering, indulgence, and superior comfort.

Whether you are dining on our third level restaurant watching the animals gather at the water at dusk, game viewing from one of our private boats, or attempting to land your first tiger fish, our professional team will be on hand to meet your every need.
